Troubleshooting Call Forwarding in Nagish

Call Forwarding allows you to use Nagish with your existing phone number. You can enable it through the Nagish app.

There are certain cases where call forwarding might not work. See below for potential reasons and how to solve them:

  1. Your mobile carrier doesn’t support call forwarding.

    1. Your mobile provider must support Call Forwarding. If you are unsure if your account has call forwarding enabled, it’s best to contact your mobile carrier and confirm with them.

Note: While most carriers offer call forwarding for free, some carriers charge a monthly fee.

  2. You don’t have an active voice plan with your mobile carrier.

    1. A data-only mobile plan is a type of mobile phone plan that only includes data. Meaning that it does not support voice calls.

    2. Data-only plans tend to be less expensive than plans that include voice calls and text messaging, but they come with limitations, such as lacking the ability to support RTT and call forwarding.

    3. Since data-only plans don’t support calls, they also don’t support call forwarding. To fix that, you may be able to contact your carrier and ask them to add a voice plan to your account. Some carriers don’t charge for this addition, while others do. It’s always best to confirm with your mobile carrier before making any changes.

  3. You are on a Deaf/HoH plan with your mobile carrier.

    1. Similarly to data-only plans, Deaf/HoH plans (also known as DHH plans) do not support phone calls in most cases, meaning that they do not support call forwarding.

    2. You may be able to contact your carrier and ask them to add a voice plan to your account. Some carriers don’t charge for this addition, while others do. It’s always best to confirm with your mobile carrier before making any changes.

  4. You already have call forwarding activated.

    1. Since call forwarding means that all your calls will be routed to Nagish, it cannot work if you already have call forwarding activated on your line.

    2. If you have call forwarding activated on your device, you must turn it off first and then activate it via Nagish.
